Artist Statement

I am a Mexican fiber artist exploring how textiles can shape the way we experience space, memory, and connection. Working primarily with tufting, crochet, and textile manipulation, I create abstract works that invite a slower, more sensory way of engaging with the world.
My practice is guided by intuition. Rather than beginning with a fixed image, I start with a feeling, an observation, or a moment in nature, allowing the materials to influence the direction of each piece. I am interested in the tactile qualities of fiber—its softness, weight, texture, and ability to hold both physical and emotional presence.
Growing up in Mexico, I was surrounded by women who crocheted, sewed, and embroidered as part of everyday life. Although this labor was rarely recognized as art, I now see it as a form of creativity, resilience, and collective knowledge. That history continues to inform my practice, inspiring me to reimagine these techniques within a contemporary artistic context.
My work draws from the rhythms of the natural world—not to represent nature literally, but to explore its cycles, growth, and constant transformation. Through fiber, I create works that encourage curiosity, touch, and contemplation, inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with their surroundings, with one another, and with themselves.
